To The Glory of God, our parish was blessed with a generous donation of a new Plaschanitsa for The Mother of God to be used during The Feast of The Dormition(Falling Asleep) of The Theotokos and Ever-Virgin Mary.

Plaschanitsa for The Mother of God:
In some traditions, particularly within the Russian Orthodox Church, there is a similar cloth depicting the Dormition of the Theotokos (Mother of God). This cloth is also used in processions, like the
"Litania" procession in Jerusalem, which commemorates the burial of the Mother of God. After which, The Plaschanitsa is placed in the center of The Church in a Tomb like that of Great and Holy Friday and The Lamentations (Hymns of Praise) are chanted.

“In giving birth, you preserved your virginity, / in falling asleep you did not forsake the world, O Theotokos. / You translated into life O Mother of Life, / and by your prayers, you deliver our souls from death.”
