Every year on Super Bowl Sunday Orthodox Christian Churches across the country join a nationwide, ecumenical effort: “Souper Bowl of Caring” to help organizations such as International Orthodox Christian Charities (IOCC). Consonant with the Great Commission of our Lord Jesus Christ (Matthew 28:19-20 and Matthew 25:35-46), the vision of IOCC is to provide programs and services such as: providing emergency relief and establishing developmental programs as well as ministering to those who are in need worldwide.
As is our custom here at St. George, we hold a Luncheon on that day along with taking a collection for IOCC and The Resurrection Life Food Pantry with supporting The IOCC project of feeding the hungry by ministering to those in need!
"Inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it unto Me." (Matthew 25:40)
